Background:
The past year has brought confusion to restaurant business owners -- especially in Washington state -- because of a series of new open-air regulations for restaurants. Business owners and managers have been focused on complying with local regulations and protecting employees from CO 2 exposure, but it is now necessary to comply with additional air quality monitoring guidelines. JXCT offers a range of solutions to adapt and solve any problem associated with CO 2 in the restaurant environment, including safety, analysis or air quality monitoring. We can use carbon dioxide sensors for online monitoring.
Carbon dioxide (CO 2) safety assurance
Owners and managers tend to think of events from the perspective of victims, employees, or the business itself, rather than the needs of emergency first responders when an event occurs. For example, when employees are exposed to dangerously high levels of CO 2.
Such incidents occur more frequently than many realize, prompting organizations such as NFPA, IFC, and NBIC to implement a number of regulations around CO 2.
A report by the National Firefighter Attempt Program run by the International Association of Fire Chiefs provides a wealth of detailed information about real-world incidents of CO 2 exposure. The gas was reportedly an "unknown odor" that prompted an employee to leave the restaurant while the van driver remained inside. An engineer was able to turn off the gas supply, but firefighters still chose to enter the building wearing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) gear. After recovering the unconscious van driver at the scene, firefighters worked to determine the cause of the problem. "O 2 (oxygen) in buildings was found to be 19.2 percent," the report said. It was determined that the restaurant's gas company had connected CO 2 bottles of soda outside to an unusable port.
Carbon dioxide displaces oxygen in buildings, causing victims to lose consciousness and fall. Fortunately, the victim triggered the burglar alarm." In this case, the van driver was lucky, but that was largely due to trained first responders and luck.
Why could a CO 2 leak be fatal
Other victims were not as lucky as the van driver. In Georgia, an elderly woman was found unresponsive in her bathroom. She later died. The investigation determined that she had suffered a lethal dose of carbon dioxide from a broken or disconnected wire in the ceiling.
This line leads to CO 2 accumulation within the compartment. A total of nine people had to be hospitalized as a result of the incident.
In Phoenix, an employee lost consciousness in a stairwell leading to the basement of a restaurant. Two firefighters who responded to the incident also fell ill. Discussions with the restaurant manager revealed that the tank had been refilled several hours before the staff lost consciousness.
Another incident involved a restaurant employee trying to help a driver for a gas transport company responsible for filling liquid CO 2 tanks. The employee died of asphyxiation, and the driver died while trying to help the employee.
Finally, in Houston, Texas, an employee was killed by a CO 2 leak from a coffee processing company. In this case, CO 2 is used to decaffeinate coffee.
Explain the increase in CO 2 related injuries
The use of bulk and liquid CO 2 delivery systems has increased over the past two decades. This is partly due to the widely recognised cost and Labour savings associated with moving from smaller cylinders to larger bulk tanks.
Despite these advantages, many restaurant owners do not consider the injuries that can be caused if a gas cylinder or bulk tank leaks.
Prevent CO 2 injuries in restaurants, establishments, breweries or bars
There are many steps business owners and managers can take to help minimize the risk of CO 2-related injuries in their businesses.
Work with bonded and reputable contractors
Whether the restaurant plans to use cylinders or high-capacity tanks, it is advisable to seek advice from an experienced CO 2 supplier on the best option for the system and installation process.
In some cases, CO 2 vendors may also install equipment. If a restaurant chooses to hire a third party contractor to install CO 2 gas supply lines, soda or draft beer systems, it is advisable to ensure that the installer is also trained and insured in the installation of hazardous gas lines.
After the installation of the equipment, restaurant owners and employees should read the instructions manual and documents carefully for warnings. It is also prudent to ask the CO 2 supplier to perform leak testing after the system is charged and operational, and to return annually to inspect and test the system.
Fixed CO2 gas sensor explosion proof carbon dioxide gas alarm detector
Explosion-proof carbon dioxide gas alarms are specially developed and produced for harsh environments. The professional testing carbon dioxide concentration sensor probe is used as the core detection device; it has the characteristics of wide measurement range, high precision, good linearity, good versatility, convenient use, easy installation, long transmission distance and moderate price. Industrial-grade sensor for continuous monitoring of gas concentrations. The certificate is complete, there are a variety of options, and can be purchased on demand. There are a variety of options for the alarm controller, and the optional external control ports are rich.
Gas Analyzer
Gas analyzer is a gas sensor independently developed by Jingxun Unimpeded using different detection principles for multi-gas detection. The gas detector adopts microcomputer analysis, which can detect the concentration of NOx, SO2, CO2, CO, O3 and O2. Gas analyzer is suitable for gas detection in thermal power plant, steel plant, non-ferrous metal smelter, aluminum smelter, cement plant, phosphate fertilizer plant, nitric acid plant, sulfuric acid plant, petrochemical, chemical fiber, industrial furnace, boiler, civil heating boiler and other occasions.JXCT is a equipment manufacturer with many years of experience, welcome to consult.
